New book: The Emperor's Shadow
And hugely discounted books 1-3
Dear Friends,
For some this is old news, but just wanted to make sure you saw that book 5 of the Pax Humana Saga, The Emperor’s Shadow, is now live!
Have you started the Terran Gambit and the other books in the series? Now is the time: they are still on sale for 99c for the next few days so don’t wait for when they’re back at full price! (I mean, I actually wouldn’t mind it all that much if you waited for full price. My gardening habit isn’t going to fund itself…)
This series has been interesting to write, to say the least. I started it 12 years ago and had it all planned out (or I thought I did), took a looooooooong break in between books 3 and 4, and now that I’ve returned to the series I have a lot of new ideas of how the plot develops, what happens to the characters, how it all ends… yes, it will end, in just 2 more books, which are coming very, very soon.
Why change what I planned 12 years ago? You learn a lot in a decade of writing books in the meantime, and what I thought would make a great story then is not the same as what I think now. For example, not to spoil anything in this book, but I hadn’t planned on killing off any major characters in this series, at least not until the final book. Wait, what? A major character dies? Did I just say that? Well, let’s just say that I found some inspiration from George RR Martin in that regard—some of the characters were simply getting too darn happy! Don’t worry though, I think you’ll be pleased with how it turns out. Well, this one character might not agree. But hey, agree to disagree.
Also, last week I plugged a book from another sci-fi author, and I’m jealous because now his is ranked even higher than mine! The nerve. Well I promised him two mentions, so here goes. (It’s actually fantastic—go pick it up):
Until next week! (yep, I have an announcement next week). Thank you for reading, reviewing, and supporting my work all this time! As I look back over the last decade I find myself blessed to have such a large crowd of wonderful people reading my work. It’s what keeps me going through it all.
Nick
