New book out!
The Sons of Oberon is LIVE!
Dear friends,
I did it. I wrote a book.
12 years ago, I started my first SciFi series, The Pax Humana Saga. I wrote 3 of the roughly 15 books I had planned for. Talk about aspirational! Then, in 2015, I took a break from Pax Humana and wrote Constitution, which took off in popularity, and I switched gears for nearly a decade to finish that series—gotta pay the bills! After so much time I hadn’t planned on returning to Pax Humana, but after the past 2 years of starting and stopping new novels and not feeling anything catch fire, I took a look at what I had already written in Pax Humana and discovered I was already halfway done with book 4, The Sons of Oberon! I’d completely forgotten! So I revised books 1-3 to bring them up to my standards (I’ve written nearly 20 novels since then!), and dove back into Sons of Oberon, and wow, it just flowed! And when I finished, I dove right into book 5, and yeah, this series has legs. It’s a good sign when a writer is excited about writing a book—it usually means the reader will enjoy it too.
The Pax Humana Saga follows a young fighter pilot, Jacob Mercer, as he fights in the battle to liberate Old Earth from the Corsican Empire—an old colony that grew to dominate the Thousand Worlds. In the middle of the action, the captain is killed, and Jake tells a lie that results in him assuming command of the most advanced ship in the fleet and his best friend cheated. Books 1-3 follow the USS Phoenix from adventure to adventure, and you should probably read those books first before diving into The Sons of Oberon. Here they are in order:
And now, The Sons of Oberon:
(I have not yet started the audiobook process yet, so if that happens it will likely take a few months).
Book 5 (tentative title: The Emperor’s Shadow) is also nearly done. I’ve tempered my plans a bit, and have scaled down the series arc to just 7 books, but I think I can still hit most of the plot beats I had scrawled in my notes. I hope to be able to release them all throughout this spring and summer.
And more good news, all that time over the past 2 years where I was starting and stopping new novels—well, all those still exist, and I actually really like the direction they are heading. One of them is in a state where I can probably get it finished right after Pax Humana book 7 is done later this summer, so expect another series soon! This one has a different tone. It’s fun. It’s hilarious (I snicker every time I sit down to write it…), and I think you’ll love it.
I hope you enjoy it! And thank you so much for reading and reviewing and emailing me, and all the support along the way. It’s been a wonderful ride as a writer, and I have you to thank for it.
Happy reading!
Nick Webb
